Thursday week is midsummer’s day and, as usual Newry Chamber Music is hosting a classical concert in celebration!
The venue once again is Derramore (great oak forest) and Friend’s Meeting House where we were entertained royally on previous occasions.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Franz Liszt and the 70th anniversary of the death of Hamilton Harty.
The programme takes cognizance of this – and also includes music by Schumann and Schubert. Incidentally the latter two composers also featured on our programme in Slieve Gullion Courtyard a few weeks ago.
I must say I am grateful to Joe and all the Quigley family for giving us a grand tour of the best venues of the area – as I am to Joanne and David for the grand tour of the great composers!
The beautiful local (County Down) soprano Rebekah Coffey features in the June concert, ably supported by the ebullient and ubiquitous David Quigley.
Relax with us.
